LICENSEWARE @ Sella Bank Innovation Event 🇮🇹

This month, I had the opportunity to join Nel Mondo a Venire, an innovation-focused festival in Biella hosted with the support of Sella Bank. The event brought together forward-thinking founders, corporate leaders, and ecosystem builders from across Italy, all gathered around one big question: what does the world to come look like, and how do we build it?

For us at Licenseware, that question hits home. We’re helping companies navigate increasingly complex software landscapes, making software asset management more accessible, modular, and efficient. Being part of this event opened new doors for collaboration and learning, and reaffirmed just how significant the shift toward intelligent, flexible tooling has become.

Connecting Innovation With Opportunity

As part of the Romanian delegation curated by Rubik Hub, four startups from our community — Storied Data (.GUUT), 2030 Builders, Licenseware, and Nifty Learning — were invited to take part in speed-dating sessions with top Italian companies such as DHL, Mondoffice, A2A, and Orso Blu, all close partners of Sella Bank.

The goal was clear: bring innovation closer to the companies shaping Italy’s economic backbone.

And it worked.

These focused, one-to-one conversations created the space to explore real business challenges and unlock potential collaborations. For Licenseware specifically, it was an opportunity to introduce our modular SAM platform to organizations that handle large-scale software estates and have a growing need for transparency, compliance, and audit readiness. The Italian market is increasingly open to solutions that support autonomy and cost efficiency, so the timing couldn’t have been better.

Insights on Scaling With Purpose

One of the highlights of the event was the workshop led by Vlad Gliga, CEO of Rubik Hub, titled “From Local to Global: Strategies for Sustainable Business Growth.” His message resonated deeply with what we’re building at Licenseware: you don’t scale by accident, you scale by design.

He emphasized:

  • creating internal systems that enable innovation to happen consistently
  • embracing adaptability as a competitive advantage
  • building resilience through smart strategy, not just speed
  • and using technology to reduce complexity, not add to it

These principles align tightly with our product philosophy. In a world of sprawling software ecosystems and constant vendor changes, organizations need tools that adapt, integrate, and deliver clarity. That’s exactly what our modular SAM apps are built for.

The Sella Legacy: A Masterclass in Visio

The most inspiring voice we heard in Biella came from Pietro Sella, CEO of Sella Group. His storytelling was a reminder that great companies aren’t just born from innovation, but from anticipation.

He shared the legacy of his great-great-great-grandfather, who founded a wool factory in 1735. Long before the word “startup” existed, he was already:

  • traveling to shepherds to source wool,
  • inventing a proto-leasing model,
  • and constantly preparing for what he saw coming next.

That same family spirit of curiosity and reinvention is what keeps Sella Group relevant today. As Pietro put it:

“I believe AI will have the same impact on this generation as the internet did for my father in 1966.”

It’s a belief we share at Licenseware. AI is already reshaping how companies make sense of software contracts, usage data, and compliance. The way Pietro described it, a technology that helps us understand complexity and connection, perfectly captures what we’re leveraging in our own platform.

For him, Nel Mondo a Venire is not about fearing the future, but embracing it with an open mind and a willingness to learn. That message resonated with everyone, and especially with us founders navigating global markets.

A Parallel Journey

Listening to Pietro speak about the Sella family’s evolution, from a small wool factory to a leader in financial innovation, was a powerful moment. It echoed our own journey at Licenseware, where a small team from Piatra Neamț set out to redefine how organizations handle software licensing.

Their story reminded us of a core truth:
innovation isn’t about where you start, but how boldly you move forward.

Rubik Hub’s purpose statement captured the spirit of the event beautifully — empowering people to build the future they believe in. And standing there in Biella, surrounded by founders, thinkers, and market leaders, that purpose felt more alive than ever.

Looking Ahead

Our time in Italy didn’t just strengthen relationships; it reinforced why we do what we do. The world to come will reward companies that:

  • stay curious,
  • challenge assumptions,
  • and build with intention.

At Licenseware, we’re committed to shaping that future with products that bring clarity to complexity and give organizations the freedom to manage their software assets on their own terms.

The Sella Bank event was a clear reminder that Europe’s innovation ecosystem is vibrant, collaborative, and full of untapped potential, and we’re excited to keep being part of that momentum.
