Jamf Pro integration

Jamf Pro cost, inventory and licensing in one view

LICENSEWARE connects to the Jamf Pro API and syncs your Mac and mobile devices with their installed applications on a schedule. The deployment managers then turn that inventory into a license position for Adobe, Microsoft and Oracle Java.

Jamf Pro

Why teams run Jamf Pro

Jamf Pro is Jamf's management product for Apple devices, and it is where many organizations keep their Macs, iPhones and iPads under control.

Built for Apple first

Jamf describes Jamf Pro as a management and security solution for an Apple-first environment, built on Apple's own management features, with zero-touch deployment for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

Inventory it collects itself

Jamf Pro automatically collects hardware, software and security configuration data from the devices it manages, and Smart Groups sort those devices and users dynamically.

Apps and self-service

App distribution and lifecycle management are automated, and Self Service+ lets people install apps and update software on their own devices.

Pricing

How much does Jamf Pro cost?

Jamf publishes prices for two bundles that run on Jamf Pro, Jamf Connect and Jamf Protect. It does not publish a price for Jamf Pro on its own.

Integration

Why we built a Jamf Pro API integration

Jamf Pro already knows every Apple device it manages and what is installed on it. LICENSEWARE reads that inventory and adds the licensing side.

No second agent

Jamf Pro already inventories every Mac it manages, so we read it through the API instead of asking you to deploy another agent on the same devices.

The gap in Windows tooling

Macs are often missing from an inventory built around Windows tools, and they are where much of the Adobe and Java estate lives, so leaving them out understates what you need to license.

Installs into a license position

Jamf Pro reports what is installed; it does not say what you are entitled to. LICENSEWARE matches the installs against your entitlements per vendor, keeps the renewal dates in LCM and shows what you can drop.

What our connector reads

  • Jamf Pro API: Mac and mobile devices with their installed applications, synced from Jamf Pro on a schedule. Read by SIM, IFMP, ADM, MDM and OJDM.

Setup

How to connect Jamf Pro

LICENSEWARE runs as SaaS, so the integration is already in your instance. There is nothing to install locally.

1

Create an API client

In Jamf Pro, give an API role read access to computer and mobile device inventory and create an API client that holds it. Jamf documents this as client credentials.

2

Add it in LICENSEWARE

Open Datasources in LICENSEWARE, find Jamf Pro, click Connect and enter your Jamf Pro address and the API client's credentials.

3

Run the first sync

Click Sync Now or wait for the schedule: API connections sync twice a week, Monday and Wednesday at 22:00 UTC. The source's page shows the last sync and the devices and installs it brought in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

PriceHow much does Jamf Pro cost?

Jamf does not publish a price for Jamf Pro alone. As of November 2026 it lists Jamf for Mac, which runs on Jamf Pro, Jamf Connect and Jamf Protect, at $12.50 per macOS device a month, and Jamf for Mobile at $5.75 per mobile device a month, both billed annually with a 25-device minimum and for Jamf Cloud customers only.

DataWhat does LICENSEWARE read from Jamf Pro?

Mac and mobile devices with their installed applications, through the Jamf Pro API. The connection syncs on a schedule, so there is no export to run and no file to upload.

AppsWhich LICENSEWARE apps use Jamf Pro data?

Software Inventory Manager, Infrastructure Mapper and the Adobe, Microsoft and Oracle Java deployment managers. Red Hat Deployment Manager does not, because the devices Jamf manages do not run Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

AgentsDo I need to install anything on my Macs?

No. LICENSEWARE reads the inventory Jamf Pro already holds through its API. You create an API client in Jamf Pro and add it in LICENSEWARE.

ExportCan I still upload a Jamf Pro export instead?

Yes. Software Inventory Manager also takes a CSV export of installed applications from Jamf Pro, and the Jamf Pro export guide shows how to produce it. The API connection replaces that step with a scheduled sync.

SecurityWhere is the Jamf Pro data stored?

In your LICENSEWARE tenant. LICENSEWARE runs as SaaS only, with instances in the EU, the US (Iowa) and Australia, and is SOC 2 Type 2 attested.

Other integrations: Microsoft Graph and Defender for Endpoint, Freshservice and Lansweeper.
