Freshservice integration

Freshservice software license management with LICENSEWARE

LICENSEWARE connects to the Freshservice API and imports your assets and the software installed on them. Software Inventory Manager recognizes that software beside every other source, so your license position starts from the asset record you already keep.

Freshservice

Why teams run Freshservice

Freshservice is Freshworks' IT service management product, and its IT asset management puts the service desk and the asset record in one place.

Discovery and a CMDB

Freshworks describes automated discovery across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments, and a CMDB that keeps asset, application and service relationships current.

Software and SaaS

Its software asset management keeps a view of installed software, entitlements and usage, and its SaaS management tracks usage and licenses across the SaaS estate.

Contracts and purchasing

Contract management centralizes contracts and licenses and tracks renewals and expirations, next to purchase orders and the asset lifecycle.

Integration

Why we built a Freshservice API integration

Freshservice already holds your assets and the software found on them. LICENSEWARE reads that record and adds the vendor licensing rules.

The record you already keep

Freshservice already knows every asset your service desk manages and the software on it, so we read it through the API instead of asking you to deploy another agent or run an export.

One inventory, many sources

Few estates sit in one tool. Software Inventory Manager puts the Freshservice inventory beside your endpoint, security and cloud sources and recognizes the same product the same way in each.

Vendor rules on top

An install count is not a license position. LICENSEWARE applies each vendor's rules through its apps, keeps contracts and renewal dates in LCM and shows what you can reclaim before a renewal.

What our connector reads

  • Freshservice API: assets and the software installed on them. Read by SIM and IFMP.

Setup

How to connect Freshservice

LICENSEWARE runs as SaaS, so the integration is already in your instance. There is nothing to install locally.

1

Copy an API key

In Freshservice, open Profile settings for an agent account that can see your assets. The API key is on that page, as the Freshservice API documentation describes.

2

Add it in LICENSEWARE

Open Datasources in LICENSEWARE, find Freshservice, click Connect and enter your Freshservice address and the API key.

3

Run the first sync

Click Sync Now or wait for the schedule: API connections sync twice a week, Monday and Wednesday at 22:00 UTC. The source's page shows the last sync and the devices and installs it brought in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

SAMDoes Freshservice do software license management on its own?

Freshservice includes software asset management, with installed software, entitlements and usage, and contract management with renewal tracking. LICENSEWARE reads the Freshservice inventory and adds each vendor's licensing rules through its apps, beside your other data sources.

DataWhat does LICENSEWARE read from Freshservice?

Your assets and the software installed on them, through the Freshservice API. Software Inventory Manager and Infrastructure Mapper read the import.

AccessWhat credential does the connection use?

A Freshservice API key. Freshservice shows each agent's key on their Profile settings page, and the API authenticates with it, so use the key of an account that can see the assets you want imported.

CoverageWill the import be complete?

It is as complete as Freshservice is. LICENSEWARE imports the assets and installed software Freshservice holds, so devices that Freshservice discovery does not reach can come from another source, such as an endpoint or security tool, into the same inventory.

SyncHow often does the data refresh?

API connections sync twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday at 22:00 UTC. Sync Now starts one straight away, and each run is listed on the source's page with its status.

SecurityWhere is the Freshservice data stored?

In your LICENSEWARE tenant. LICENSEWARE runs as SaaS only, with instances in the EU, the US (Iowa) and Australia, and is SOC 2 Type 2 attested.

Other integrations: Jamf Pro, Microsoft Graph and Defender for Endpoint and Lansweeper.
