LICENSEWARE Featured in the Gartner Market Guide for SAM Tools — Two Years Running

We have some exciting news to share: Licenseware has been named a Representative Vendor in the 2026 Gartner Market Guide for Software Asset Management Tools (January 2026), marking our second consecutive inclusion in this prestigious report.
Being recognized once is a milestone. Being recognized twice, and with a meaningfully expanded profile, is a reflection of how far we’ve come, and where we’re headed.
What the Gartner SAM Market Guide Represents
The Gartner Market Guide for Software Asset Management Tools is one of the most closely watched publications in the ITAM and SAM space. It maps the landscape of vendors helping organizations navigate the increasingly complex world of software licensing, from on-premises infrastructure and SaaS to SAP and engineering software. For IT sourcing, procurement, and vendor management leaders evaluating tools, it’s a go-to reference.
Being listed among the Representative Vendors means Gartner analysts have assessed our capabilities as part of their independent research — and found them relevant to the problems organizations are trying to solve.
From Our First Inclusion to Our Second: What Changed
The 2025 edition (published November 2024) introduced LICENSEWARE to the Gartner audience as a modular, Romania-headquartered vendor with a presence in North America and EMEA, offering a flexible set of stand-alone modules and an AI-based licensing chatbot called NEO.
The 2026 edition tells a more mature story.
A growing customer base. Where the 2025 report described our customer base as small, the 2026 report recognizes it as actively growing, a distinction that reflects the traction we’ve built across North America and EMEA, and our ongoing expansion into the ANZ region through distribution partnerships.
A deeper, more capable module portfolio. Our offering has expanded considerably. Alongside our established modules for Microsoft, Oracle, and Red Hat, we’ve added an Adobe Deployment Manager, a License and Contracts Manager, and a Self-Assessment Service for ITAM maturity benchmarking, giving customers more entry points and a broader coverage of their software estate.
An agentless-first discovery approach. The 2026 report explicitly recognizes Licenseware’s primarily agentless discovery model. By leveraging existing inventory data, CSV, XLSX, JSON, XML uploads, and integrations with tools like Lansweeper, Microsoft Graph AI, ManageEngine, SCCM, BigFix, Flexera, Snow, and RVTools, we meet customers where they are, without forcing additional agent deployments. For organizations that need it, the Licenseware Collector remains available as a lightweight optional agent for Windows, Mac, Linux, UNIX, and Docker environments.
NEO, elevated. Our AI assistant NEO has grown from an AI-based chatbot into what Gartner now describes as an AI-powered agent, one that accelerates licensing analysis, delivers optimization insights, and can even estimate hardware power consumption to establish CO₂ benchmarks. This reflects broader investment in making NEO genuinely useful for the day-to-day work of SAM practitioners, not just a conversational interface.
Sustainability insights. The 2026 profile introduces Licenseware’s sustainability capabilities, a sign that the SAM discipline is maturing beyond pure compliance and cost optimization. NEO’s ability to generate energy consumption estimates and CO₂ benchmarks positions us to support organizations as environmental reporting becomes a boardroom-level concern.
Enriched Software Inventory Manager. Our core recognition and normalization module now includes life cycle data, product descriptions, and licensing model context alongside software recognition, giving customers richer, more actionable inventory data from the start.
Why This Matters in 2026
The SAM market is at an inflection point. Gartner’s 2026 report makes clear that the biggest challenges facing organizations today aren’t just about counting licenses, they’re about data quality, AI consumption visibility, integration depth, and cost governance across increasingly complex hybrid environments.
LICENSEWARE was built for exactly this kind of complexity. Our modular approach means customers can start where their pain is greatest and expand from there. Our data-agnostic model means faster time-to-value, especially for organizations that already have inventory data but struggle to turn it into licensing insight. And our vendor-specific modules, covering Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, Red Hat, and more, mean we go deep where it matters most, rather than offering shallow coverage across everything.
The Gartner recognition validates that this approach resonates, not just with our customers, but with independent analysts tracking the market.
Thank You
This recognition belongs to our customers who trust us with their software estate, our partners who extend our reach, and the team that builds and supports these tools every day.
We’re proud of how much has changed since our first Gartner appearance, and we’re just getting started.
