LICENSEWARE Is Now on the Proactivanet Marketplace

If you run Proactivanet, your software inventory is already sitting in a database, updated, normalized, and waiting. What it is not yet is a licensing position.

That gap is the reason most SAM projects stall. The data exists. Turning it into an answer about compliance, cost and exposure is a separate piece of work, and it usually arrives with a proposal for new agents, a deployment schedule, and a timeline measured in quarters.

LICENSEWARE is now available in the Proactivanet Marketplace, which removes that step entirely. Connect the two, sync your existing inventory, and get a licensing analysis from the data you already collect.

What the integration does

The integration synchronises your Proactivanet inventory directly with LICENSEWARE. Once the data is in, the platform resolves it into the things a SAM team actually needs to answer:

QuestionWhat you get
What licensed software do we actually have?Recognized, normalized and categorized inventory across the estate
What are we paying for and not using?Underused and unused licenses, identified against real deployment data
What is running outside our approved catalog?Installs flagged against your standards, including end-of-life software
Where are we over-licensed?Over-licensing and the cost reduction opportunity behind it

No discovery agents. No deployment project. Connect, sync, analyze, in minutes rather than months.

You will find us in the marketplace under three categories: SAM, Discovery, and Contracts and Warranties.

Why this pairing makes sense

Proactivanet is strong at what it does. Discovery, inventory, CMDB, asset management, service desk. It knows what is installed on which device, and it keeps that picture current.

What it is not built to do, and does not claim to do, is model Oracle’s processor licensing, or calculate Microsoft CAL requirements against a deployment topology, or work out whether your Java estate is exposed on installs or on headcount. That is a different discipline, with vendor-specific rules that change under you.

Those are two different jobs, and the honest answer is that few tools do both well. The useful move is not to replace a tool that already works. It is to connect it to something that does the part it does not.

That is the whole design principle behind how LICENSEWARE handles data sources. You keep the inventory tool you already run and already trust. We take the output and turn it into a licensing position, with every figure traceable back to the source record.

The data you already have

This connects to something we keep finding across enterprise estates.

When we analysed what actually sits inside enterprise software estates, the pattern was consistent. Organizations were running software their own vendor had already discontinued. They were paying for tools that had free equivalents installed on the same machines. They were carrying licensing exposure in ordinary software nobody thinks to check.

None of it was hidden. It was in inventory those organizations had already paid to collect, in tables nobody had opened.

If you are a Proactivanet customer, you are further ahead than most on that first part. The collection is done and the data is clean. The remaining question is whether anything is reading it.

Getting started

The integration is available now in the Proactivanet Marketplace under SAM, Discovery, and Contracts and Warranties.

From the LICENSEWARE side, the flow is:

  1. Connect your Proactivanet instance as a data source
  2. Sync the inventory
  3. Run the analysis in Software Inventory Manager to normalize and categorize the estate
  4. Link entitlements and contracts in License and Contracts Manager to see position against ownership
  5. Ask NEO the licensing questions you would otherwise send to a consultant

From there the same data supports audit defense and cost optimization without collecting anything twice.

If you want to test it before committing to anything, the free plan will run on a sample of your Proactivanet data.

Thank you to the Proactivanet team

Integrations are only as good as the collaboration behind them, and this one was a genuine partnership rather than an API handshake. Thanks to everyone at Proactivanet for the work.

For anyone in the Spanish and Latin American ITAM market: this is a combination worth looking at. Proactivanet has spent years building a discovery and asset management platform that people actually keep using. Putting a licensing engine on top of it is a short step, not a project.
