As of November 2026, the OpenAI API costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens on GPT-6.1 Sol, from $0.10 and $0.50 on GPT-6 Luna up to $10 and $50 on GPT-6 Astra. ChatGPT Business is $20 a user a month billed annually; Enterprise is priced by quote.

How much does the OpenAI API cost per million tokens?
OpenAI prices its flagship models per million tokens, with a lower rate for cached input and a higher one once a prompt passes 272,000 tokens.

The bill
What drives the OpenAI API bill?
Speed tier, context length and tools change the rate as much as the choice of model does.
Cached input
Cached input is 95% cheaper than fresh input on GPT-6.1 Sol and Terra. Caching has its own write charges: on GPT-6.1 Sol, $2.50 per million tokens for a 30-minute write and $5 for 12 hours.
Batch and Flex
Batch and Flex processing both run at half the Standard rate, for work that can wait.
Fast and Ultrafast
Fast mode doubles the Standard rate: GPT-6.1 Sol is $4 input and $20 output. Ultrafast on GPT-6.1 Sol is $12 and $60.
Long context
A prompt over 272,000 input tokens moves the request to the long-context rate: double the input price on GPT-6.1 Sol, and 50% more on output.
Data residency
Regional processing endpoints carry a 10% uplift for models released on or after 5 March 2026. From 1 November 2026, FedRAMP endpoints do too.
Tools
Web search is $10 per 1,000 calls plus the search content tokens. File search is $2.50 per 1,000 calls, with storage at $0.10 per GB a day after the first GB.

Seats
How much does ChatGPT Business or Enterprise cost per user?
ChatGPT for work is a seat with included usage. Beyond the included limits, usage is paid in credits.

On credit-based agreements, ChatGPT Work and other eligible features draw from one shared pool of workspace credits. When the credits run out, usage either pauses or continues at the contracted overage rate, depending on the workspace's overage settings.
